We invite scholars, practitioners, and researchers to submit abstracts for paper presentations addressing the following sub-themes:

  • Contemporary Theatre Practices: Analyzing the evolution of theatre in Africa, including modern playwrights, directors, and performance styles responding to current socio-political contexts.
  • Intersection of Theatre and Politics: Examining how African theatre engages with political discourse, activism, and social justice movements.
  • Gender and Identity in Performance: Investigating representations of gender, sexuality, and identity in African theatre, and the role of performance in challenging norms and stereotypes.
  • Theatre and Community Engagement: Discussing the impact of theatre projects on local communities, including educational outreach, grassroots initiatives, and collaborative productions.
  • Digital and Virtual Theatre: Exploring the role of digital technologies in African theatre, virtual performances, and online platforms for cultural exchange and artistic expression.
